Level 2 – Handgun Progression

This course covers the Fundamentals of handling a handgun. Building a strong foundation with an emphasis on the Fundamentals of Marksmanship. Gun Safety is the responsibility and duty of every gun owner, this course will provide you with a strong foundation. It is a hands-on gun safety class with a good mix of shooting and information. In this course we will be working from an exposed strong side holster. This course is held entirely in a private bay to ensure a fun and supportive environment.
Students attending this class should already have Level 1 basic pistol knowledge.
Careless/unsafe gun handling is not acceptable and will be cause for removal from the class with no refund.
This 1 day course covers:
  • Safe firearm manipulation
  • 7 basic shooting fundamentals
  • Handgun Maintenance and Storage
  • State and Federal laws regarding ownership and possession, Transportation, and Concealed Carry Permits
  • Justifiable Self Defense – When is a firearm legal to use in self defense, use-of-force considerations, dealing with the police after a self-defense confrontation
  • 3 Part Draw from an exposed holster
  • Emergency reload and Tactical reload
  • Natural point of aim
  • Malfunction clearing
Course Cost: $125 + Range fee
Range Fee: $5.00 FSC members / $14.00 non-members
You’ll need:
  • A note pad and pen
  • Drinks, snacks and lunch
  • $14 for the Sac Valley Shooting Center range fee
  • A folding chair (for break time on the range)
  • The handgun(s) that you intend to shoot with
  • At least two functional magazines for each semi-automatic pistol and/or at least one functional speed loader for each revolver – the more, the better
  • A strong side, hip holster for each gun – must cover the trigger
  • Magazine and/or speed loader holders
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Ammo – approximately 200rds
  • Clothing appropriate for weather, outdoor, and dirt surface range
  • Sunscreen
  • A hat with brim
  • A belt
  • An open mind and a great attitude

Eligibility

Open Enrollment Courses are available to all qualified, who can legally own and/or possess firearms within the State of California. To qualify you cannot have been convicted of a felony or violent misdemeanor, and not under any criminal indictment that would legally prevent you from receiving this training.
