Level 2 – Handgun Progression
This course covers the Fundamentals of handling a handgun. Building a strong foundation with an emphasis on the Fundamentals of Marksmanship. Gun Safety is the responsibility and duty of every gun owner, this course will provide you with a strong foundation. It is a hands-on gun safety class with a good mix of shooting and information. In this course we will be working from an exposed strong side holster. This course is held entirely in a private bay to ensure a fun and supportive environment.
Students attending this class should already have Level 1 basic pistol knowledge.
Careless/unsafe gun handling is not acceptable and will be cause for removal from the class with no refund.
This 1 day course covers:
- Safe firearm manipulation
- Grip, Stance, Sight Picture and Sight Alignment, Breathing, Trigger control and Follow thru
- Accuracy
- Finding your natural point of aim
- Draw process
- Type 1,2 and 3 Malfunction clearing
- Emergency reload and Loaded chamber reload
- Justifiable Self Defense – When is a firearm legal to use in self defense, use-of-force considerations, dealing with the police after a self-defense confrontation
Range Fee: $5.00 FSC members / $16.00 non-members
You’ll need:
- A note pad and pen
- Drinks, snacks and lunch
- $15 for the Sac Valley Shooting Center range fee
- A folding chair (for break time on the range)
- The handgun(s) that you intend to shoot with
- At least two functional magazines for each semi-automatic pistol and/or at least one functional speed loader for each revolver – the more, the better
- A strong side, hip holster for each gun – must cover the trigger
- Magazine and/or speed loader holders
- Eye and ear protection
- Ammo – approximately 200-400 round (depending on class flow)
- Clothing appropriate for weather, outdoor, and dirt surface range
- Sunscreen
- A hat with brim
- A belt
- An open mind and a great attitude
